CITY OF STAIRS BY ROBERT JACKSON BENNETT

Although I love fantasy, I have to admit there is very little original material in the books that are written nowadays. Don't get me wrong, there are some marvellous books, trilogies and series which make great reading, but they tend to rely on all the old tropes. There are exceptions of course, One author who bucks the trend is Robert Jackson Bennett.  A writer's writer. City of Stairs, the first in his Divine Cities trilogy is a favourite
